Kerala Seeks VoA Facility for Third Airport

Kozhikode airport in Kerala could become the third airport in the state to offer visa-on-arrival facility to tourists.

According to reports, State officials have already approached the centre with the demand. Kerala is currently the only State to have two international airports enabled under the scheme.

Kerala Tourism targets 30 lakh tourist arrivals by 2021 and has been pitching the visa-on-arrival facility through promotional campaigns worldwide.

Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi are among the nine where tourists from 43 destinations can get their visas enabled with electronic travel authorization. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Goa are the other airports where the service is offered.

Tourists may apply and pay the fee for the visa online without having to travel to the Indian missions in their home countries. Applicants who are approved will receive the official travel authorization via email. They need to present a printed copy to the immigration upon arrival.
