Malaysia’s stock exchange operator Bursa
Malaysia Bhd’s earnings rose 14.8 per cent to RM53.09 million in the third quarter
ended Sept 30, 2014 from RM46.21 million a year ago, boosted by higher profit
from its securities market operations.
The revenue also increased by 7.2 per
cent to RM128.96 million from RM120.28 million. Earnings per share were 10 sen
compared with 8.7 sen.
The securities market recorded a segment
profit of RM78.8mil in 3Q14; an increase of 15 per cent compared to RM68.7 million
in 3Q13.
The higher profit in 3Q14 was mainly a
result of higher trading value on the securities market compared to 3Q13.
The derivatives market recorded a
segment profit of RM10.3 million in 3Q14, an increase of 1 per cent compared to
RM10.2 million in 3Q13. The higher profit in 3Q14 was due to the increase in
contracts traded.
For the nine-month period, its earnings
rose 4.2 per cent to RM145.08 million from RM139.23 million in the previous
corresponding period. Its revenue increased by 3.9 per cent to RM 375.27 million
to RM 361.06 million.
